SPR stands for SellerSprite Product Rank. It represents the estimated number of natural sales needed within 8 days to keep a keyword ranking on page 1 of Amazon’s search results.
This powerful metric helps sellers understand exactly how many sales are needed per keyword to hit and maintain top-ranking positions — which in turn helps shape your keyword launch strategy.
Example:
For the keyword 'phone stand', if the SPR is 296, you need 296 natural orders (across all product variations) under this keyword within 8 days to stay on page 1.

Strategy for Small to Medium Sellers
Instead of going directly after high-competition head terms with high SPR and PPC costs, you can start by targeting long-tail keywords:
Lower SPR → fewer orders required
Higher conversion rate
Lower advertising cost
Example: Rather than targeting 'phone stand' (SPR = 296, CPC ~$2), start with longer, more specific term like: 'office phone stand for desk'.
This term has moderate search volume and lower SPR, making it much easier to rank for. You can promote it through PPC campaigns, coupons or off-Amazon traffic.

Once your long-tail keywords start generating sales and your product’s listing gains weight, you can gradually expand to broader terms like: 'phone stand for desk', 'phone holder stand for office'... and eventually to core keywords like 'phone stand' or 'phone holder'.
Remember: Product Quality Comes First
No matter the strategy, success depends on your product and listing fundamentals: high-quality images, strong ratings and reviews, clear and persuasive copy, videos and A+ content (if possible). These elements are critical for conversion, which in turn supports keyword ranking.
Once your keyword reaches page 1, ranking must be sustained through continued sales velocity. This can be supported with internal promotions like Lightning Deals, Best Deals, or other conversion-boosting strategies.
